Food Network

The PEG Food Network aims to help people living on and around the Peninsula to get locally grown and/or organic food at affordable prices. Currently, we are organising bulk-buying of organic dried goods (rice, lentils, tea, beans, flour, dried fruits, etc.) at wholesale prices.
How does it work?
Most dry bulk goods come in 5 or 10kg lots. We understand this is probably too much for most people, so members are encouraged to get together and share. Once you have decided what you’d like to order send an email to Zainem or Cara.
Your order should look something like this –
5kgs red lentils split
5kgs basmati rice
1 carton soy milk
We will send you back confirmation that your order has been received and the cost. You will also be sent PEG’s bank account details. Orders must be prepaid. Delivery charges will apply (not more than $10 per order) and this can be paid at the time of pick-up.
When do I get to pick-up?
About a week after the order has been placed you will be able to pick it up. Pick-up will be organised the following Sat. at the Woy Woy Environment Centre on Blackwall Road, Woy Woy. An email will be sent out to everyone in the network about the date and time.
If you want to join this network or have any questions, please email Zainem or Cara or call 02 4342 6589.
See Food Network (right) for announcements and news of Food Network meetings.
In future we are interested in exploring ideas such as a network of local community gardens, a local mini-market to exchange home-grown food, and creating a local community-supported agriculture project to buy organic produce from local farmers.
We also encourage everyone to support local organic food suppliers:

(If you are a local organic retailer and wish to be listed here, please contact us.
You can also trade home-grown fruit and home-made food using the LETS network.
